A new 380,000 square foot patient tower with 192 private patient rooms. The first floor of the building is the new main entrance to the hospital and includes a two-story atrium leading to the second floor pediatric unit. Other functions in the building include three MRI rooms, ICU, oncology, neuro-stroke and a top floor mother/baby wing.

This project has been awarded LEED Gold Certification for New Buildings by the US Green Building Council.

• A new 45,000,000 Btu/hr high efficiency condensing boiler plant, comprising 15 boilers, will be one of the largest of its type in the world.
• Variable flow heating hot water system serves preheat coils, reheat coils, and radiant heating system.
• 1,800 ton variable primary flow chiller plant with three 600 ton chillers and cooling towers with VFDs.
• Chemical-free cooling tower water treatment system received a LEED innovation credit for maximizing energy efficiency and water conservation without the use of harmful chemicals.
• 300,000 cfm of custom VAV air handling systems utilizing fan-wall technology. One air system capable of negatively pressurizing one entire floor in the event of a local biohazard event.
• HEPA filtered isolation room exhaust system serves 22 isolation rooms.
• Amine-free clean steam for humidification generated via steam-to-steam heat exchangers.
• Water conservation measures include dual flush water closets and electronic faucets.
• All roof storm water spills to a cascading "rainwater garden."
• Domestic hot water is generated with high efficiency steam-to-hot water heat exchangers.

• Developed life cycle costs for all major equipment, which was selected based on optimal life cycle costs.
• Performed early energy modeling to evaluate insulation levels and window performance.
• Energy savings for this building are projected to be 23.3% of site energy usage, equating to $185,886 in annual savings as compared to ASHRAE Standard 90.1
