
The Howard T. Ricketts Regional Biocontainment Laboratory is one of nine new regional facilities that will support research for the detection, prevention and elimination of diseases such as anthrax, hemorrhagic fever, influenza and plague. The building contains BSL-2 and BSL-3 laboratories, BSL-2 and BSL-3 vivariums and required support spaces. The University of Chicago has received a grant from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), to construct the building which will be located on the campus of the Argonne National Laboratory.
